Sophia Hope

It's been two weeks since I traveled to York to photograph 9-month-old Sophia Hope and her family. It has taken me this long to blog about it. I was waiting for the right words to come together. But what are the right words for an infant who was just diagnosed with brain cancer?

I realized there is nothing I can say. And I realized I was wasting time - time that could be spent praying for her.

I recently learned more people follow this blog than I thought...not just our clients, but friends and friends of friends.

Please visit Sophia's CaringBridge page, or her FB page if you'd like to know more about how her cancer was discovered just one month ago, immediately had surgery and is currently at St. Jude for chemo.

Please pray for Sophia. Her mommy, daddy and big sister, Olivia, need your prayers, too.

White House

Our most recent photo shoot took place at the White House...that is...the house of the White family here in Omaha. This might be the most photogenic family I've ever photographed. They made my job easy! And the natural light, combined with Jaci's excellent taste in home decor made it a perfect place to capture these images.

Aren't BFFs awesome? My bestie (from the good ol' college days) was in town last weekend to pay me a visit. She called it the 'return to youth' weekend. But what's funny is, I'm a mama and she's a mama-to-be, so how much 'returning' could we really accomplish? There weren't any late-night bar scenes, or even a glass of red wine, for that matter. Perhaps 'return to youth' now means 'let's pick up where we left off.' A lot of things have changed about our respective lives since college, but our friendship remains constant. Even though she lives three hours away, the joy and laughter she brings to my life is the same as it was seven years ago when we first lived together.

This post is a little more personal than usual, but friends make us who we are. And Meg has influenced my life, and therefore, my photography. This is Meg (and the little boy she's incubating in her tummy), my little Cora and me.
